HIGHLIGHTS LONE STAR COLLEGE The board of trustees began discussing the scal year 2023-24 budget June 1 with a proposal to lower the property tax rate from $0.1078 to $0.1076 per $100 valuation. A budget and tax rate will not be adopted until August and September. CONROE ISD At a June 20 meeting, the district agreed to implement RAVE 911, a silent panic alert technology, for the 2023-24 school year. The application can be used by sta to report emergencies. Teacher pay raises in Conroe ISD hinge on state funding decision

Tomball ISD approves 4% sta salary pay raise

TOMBALL ISD A 4% pay increase for all sta was approved by the Tomball ISD board of trustees at its June 13 regular meeting. The district is also adjusting the midpoint values for the 2023-24 year, which means the raises will be applied to the new adjusted values, Superintendent Martha Salazar-Zamora said June 12. Zooming out: The raises come as the board also gets ready to adopt the scal year 2023-24 budget, which projects $203 million in revenues and $208 million in expenses, resulting in a $5 million shortfall. In the proposed FY 2023-24 budget, the district plans to increase security spending by 55%, and curriculum and sta development spending by 13.02%. Chief Financial Ocer Jim Ross said all teachers should see a pay raise of at least $3,500.

CONROE ISD A resolution approved by the board of trustees June 20 would allow the district to retroactively provide raises to teachers pending increased funding from the state. Current situation: CISD Chief Financial Ocer Darrin Rice read a resolution at the June 20 meeting regarding raises stating: • The Texas Legislature has not allocated funds for employee pay raises. • CISD’s approved resolution will allow the district to retroactively pay employees during the 2023-24 school year starting Aug. 1. Until the Legislature approves funds, district employees will be compensated in accordance with
