Lone Star Groundwater Conservation District general manager resigns

She led the district through processes such as developing databases, rules and legislative changes, and other aspects of district functioning, according to the news release. What they’re saying: “We sincerely thank [Reiter] for her contribution and leadership during her tenure as general
manager. The board appreci- ates her many years of service and the smooth transition she is enabling,” the LSGCD board of directors said in a news release. “I have seen many changes during my time at the district and take with me a vast amount of knowledge learned from the many friends and mentors I have worked for and with,” Reiter said in an email. “I am proud of my role in the district’s growth since I joined in 2010, and I look forward to supporting the district’s future plans and projects.”

Samantha Reiter, general manager of Lone Star Ground- water Conservation District, resigned June 15 from the organization she has worked with for 13 years. The LSGCD regulates ground- water usage in Montgomery County. According to a news release from the LSGCD, Reiter has held a number of roles in the district. She joined the district in 2010. Applications were accepted after her resignation was announced, and officials said at a July 11 board of directors

The board also adopted a resolution recognizing Houston for his work at the SJRA. “There are times when fewer words are better than a longer speech, and so I’m going to reduce my comments about Jace to a verse found in Mat- thew 25:23, and that says, ‘Well done, good and faithful servant,’” board President Ronnie Anderson said. The next SJRA meeting is set for July 27.

During a meeting June 22, the board of the San Jacinto River Authority appointed Ed Shackelford as the acting general manager following the resignation of the former general manager, Jace Houston, on May 25. Shackelford currently serves as the SJRA’s director of operations, accord- ing to its website. The SJRA monitors water quality in the San Jacinto basin, provides water to municipal utility districts and operates the Lake Conroe Dam. The Texas Senate set a Sept. 5 start date for the impeachment trial of suspended Attorney General Ken Paxton and adopted rules governing the proceedings. State senators will serve as jurors, and Lt. Gov. Dan Patrick will preside over the court, similar to a judge. Patrick can also appoint a senator who is not running for re-election in 2024 to serve as the presiding officer. Sen. Angela Paxton, R-McKinney, the attorney general’s wife, must be present for the trial, but is not allowed to participate or vote, according to a resolution.
