O cials with Howard Hughes and PGAL, an engineering and architecture company, provided an update to Montgomery County commissioners on Oct. 8 regarding the new South Montgomery County Community Center and Library as con- struction continues on the project. The details The $16.5 million project came about through a land swap agreement between the county and Howard Hughes for the Grogan’s Mill Village Center. Howard Hughes agreed to construct the new facility at the village center in exchange for ownership of the existing South Montgomery County library property at 2101 Lake Robbins Drive in The Woodlands. $16.5M community center, library on track for 2025 completion
Counties get $50M for storm recovery Gov. Greg Abbott announced Oct. 9 that 122 Texas counties, including Montgomery and Harris counties, will receive a total of $50 million in emergency state funding to assist with debris removal caused by the May derecho and Hurricane Beryl. What you need to know According to a news release from Abbott’s o ce, the funding is coming from the Gen- eral Revenue Waste Management Account, which can be used for debris removal costs. O cials said about $32 million will go to the city of Houston. The remaining funds will be dispersed by the Texas Division of Emergency Management with assistance from the Texas Commission on Environ- mental Quality.
The center will feature a library, community center and 32,000 square feet of retail space.
