Hutto council to consider fiber ordinance update Hutto City Council is eyeing potential ordinance changes to rein in fiber-optic construction in the area. Two-minute impact City officials have fielded concerns from residents about the installation of fiber lines in the city. Mayor Mike Snyder said Oct. 19 he’s received complaints and photos of damage caused by tunneling for fiber lines. He also noted community sidewalks and driveways have been uprooted. Another concern raised by council members is the absence of penalties for fiber companies not in compliance with city requirements. Stay tuned City staff plan to develop educational material for residents regarding what to know when fiber companies come to install fiber near their property. Council will hear recommendations for specific ordinance regulations at a Nov. 16 meeting.
