La Vista Drive gets speed humps
Officials to study Abrams Road traffic in Lakewood Dallas officials commissioned a traffic study on Abrams Road throughout the next year. What’s happening City Council approved a contract with the consultant Lee Engineering during council’s Aug. 9 meeting. The contract includes plans to study traffic on Esperanza Road from Spring Valley Road to the southbound service road of North Central Expressway. The study is scheduled to start in September this year and be completed by Septem- ber 2024, a city spokesperson said. Both Abrams and Esperanza roads have a “disproportionately high rate” of vehicle crashes, according to city council documents. The study is meant to evaluate safety and identify engineering improvements that could assist in reducing the number of severe crashes on the two roads.

To calm vehicular traffic and speeding, city officials put in 12 speed humps along La Vista Drive from Live Oak Street to Gaston Avenue. The corridor’s speed limit is 30 mph. The project wrapped up in mid-August The cost of the project was $15,000, with funding coming from Dallas’ $2 million budget allocation for traffic calming. RICHMOND AVE.

The cost The study is expected to cost $316,920 with about $104,583 coming from the city’s general fund and $212,336 coming from the city’s Coro- navirus State and Local Fiscal Recovery Fund, according to the documents. About 65% of the total cost is being allocated toward the Abrams section, the spokesperson said. What they’re saying “This ... has been long sought by residents,” said Council Member Paul Ridley during the meeting.
