TISD consults geologist on innovation center Tomball ISD’s board of trustees discussed the ongoing $42.3 million Tomball Innovation Center renovation project March 4, hearing a presenta- tion from engineering firm Terracon addressing student safety concerns. What they’re saying Multiple TISD parents voiced concerns, including concerns that proper soil testing and plans have not been completed since the land was owned by industrial companies. TISD parent Megan Ruffin said she knows the board and administration care about students and the community, but she believes there are “significant shortcomings” for the project. MISD superintendent announces retirement Serving since 2009, Magnolia ISD’s superintendent Todd Stephens is retiring, according to a March 19 news release. Two-minute impact During his time as superintendent, Ste- phens led the district through the COVID-19 pandemic; oversaw the passage of the 2015 and 2022 bond packages, which included new campuses; and helped support the community after the 2011 wildfires. According to the release, Stephens first joined MISD as assistant superintendent in 1999, and has been in education for 43 years. Stephens will serve through the remain- der of the 2023-24 school year. MISD’s goal is to have a new superintendent named by the start of the 2024-25 school year, district officials confirmed in an email.
