Forging forward Wade said his VFW post will host its rst hybridmeeting this quarter, gath- ering via Zoomor socially distanced in person—a sign of a new normal. The Pugerville Public Library established VetNow, an online service to help veterans navigate their bene- ts and transition back to civilian life. Assistant Director Daniel Berra said the pandemic presented an opportu- nity to pursue the online platform. “We felt like it was an important segment of the community that could use support right now,” Berra said. While this Veterans Day will have limits for in-person events and cer- emonies, the spirit of the holiday remains, Wade said. Now is as import- ant a time as ever to honor those who served, he said, and to give them the structure, strength and support they need. “Really the best way to help out our veteran populations is just to sup- port them and the organizations they belong to,” Wade said. “Having the community rally behind this cause means the world to them.”
Alongside nancial and health access complications, concerns surrounding mental health care and social isolation have been elevated by the pandemic. Here is a list of area resources for veterans and their loved ones.
