Paving underway in Highland Village
GoZone funding approved for 2024 GoZone ride service will operate in Flower Mound, Argyle and Highland Village for another year. The Denton County Transportation Authority board approved a $10.4 million contract extension with Via for continuing its GoZone service through 2024. The gist The rideshare program will be available through at least September 2024 as one of two one-year extensions available under the contract awarded in 2021. The details Operations are expected to cost more than $9.8 million. The contract assumes about 234,895 hours of van service estimated to cost about $42.11 per hour.

Progress is being made on 10 residential roadways in Highland Village initially approved for reconstruction earlier this year. The first phase of the city’s 2023 Street Improve- ment Project was approved in May. The gist Paving is complete for Glenmere Drive, Camden Drive, Turpin Drive and Lamesa Drive. Medina Drive, Catlin Circle, Catlin Terrace, Ranney Drive and Lakeland Drive were funded in the first phase, and work on Moran Drive is also underway. Highland Village City Manager Paul Stevens said work on Lakeland will take “significantly” longer, pushing the final completion date of the entire project to early 2024. “It will most likely take a few months [to finish Lakeland] since there will be two holidays and some weather delays while they rebuild,” he said.
