Hutto Antique Mall pursues sustainability in antique, vintage shop Specialty gifts, vintage signs and knickknacks line the shelves of the Hutto Antique Mall, a locally owned business that marked one year of operation in August. The shop is owned by Kiowa Madrid, a Hutto native who got her start in vintage retail while working at Vintique Mall in Taylor. “I just started running their place when they’re out of town and thought maybe if I could do it for them, I could do it for myself,” Madrid said. About the business Madrid uses a vendor-based model to stock her shelves. Vendors can earn commission on items sold through the antique mall. Madrid said the antique and vintage shop, located within A ordable Storage Hutto, is currently at capacity with a six-month wait list for vendors interested in selling there. About the owner Madrid said she has long enjoyed vintage and secondhand shopping. It started with her grandparents, she said, who took her to local ea markets, estate sales and thrift shops to nd antique and vintage items. Madrid also said sustainability is top of mind when it comes to the shop. “I enjoy antiquing, thrifting and going estate ‘sale-ing’ so much,” she said. “I nd too much good stu priced at good deals, so I can’t pass it up. If I pass it up, it could end up in the land ll. If it ends up here, then somebody else can nd it.”
The antique and vintage shop is currently at capacity, Madrid said, with a six-month wait list for vendors interested in selling there.
