Ann Anderson wins race for Frisco City Council Place 1

Ann Anderson won over Mark Piland in the race for Frisco City Council Place 1, according to unocial election results from Denton and Collin counties. The special election was called after seat holder John Keating announced he was running for mayor in the May election, leaving the seat open to a newcomer to the council. Anderson will com- plete the remaining term of oce for the vacated position, which expires in May 2027. Zooming in Anderson received 4,052 votes, or 50.66% of the votes during the Jan. 31 special election. Piland garnered 3,946 votes, which is a dierence of 106 votes. Anderson owns a local insurance agency in Frisco. “I am running to ensure Frisco remains safe, smart and connected as we grow,” she said when asked why she was running for oce. “My

leadership will focus on planning with purpose, supporting public safety, improving mobility and strengthening community partnerships so our city continues thriving for generations, while honoring the small-town feel we all value.” Her top priorities while in oce is to focus on protecting quality of life, ensuring infrastructure and trac solutions keep pace with growth, supporting public safety through data-driven planning, practicing responsible budgeting, and strengthening transparency and community engagement so residents feel informed, heard and connected, she said. Piland is a public safety consultant and former Frisco re chief. Collin County saw a 5.37% voter turnout while Denton County saw 6.92%. What’s next? All results are unocial until canvassed.
