The Feeling Fresh Project tackles ‘hygiene poverty’ What started as a small hygiene drive to help her daughter’s third-grade teacher has evolved into something much bigger for The Feeling Fresh Project Founder Paige Biersdorfer. The details
Donations needed include:
• Hair care for all hair types • Lice kits • Chapstick • Lotion and soap • Deodorant
• Toothpaste and floss • Laundry detergent • Face care and pimple patches • Bodywash • Menstrual products
“I did a little bit of research about hygiene poverty, how it a ects children, and I just thought, ‘OK, well, I’m going to try it,’” Biersdorfer said. Zooming in While bene ts such as SNAP help individuals and families access food, they are not eligible to be used on hygiene products. “There’s not a social safety net for these kinds of things—the hygiene care,” Biersdorfer said. “Kids miss school because of it.”
TFFP provides hygiene products to students so they can focus on learning. Biersdorfer founded the organization in July after noticing her daugh- ter’s teacher’s Amazon Wishlist had items like toothbrushes, toothpaste and hairbrushes.
