Karden Lane inspired by photography and style
Mindy Harmon, owner of boutique Karden Lane in The Woodlands, said she has been in the beauty industry for over a decade; however, her career did not start with clothing. Harmon began as a portrait photographer in 2008 and added hair and makeup to the services she oered to get women prepared for their portrait. In 2020, Harmon expanded her business with a clothing boutique. The backstory Harmon said when she picked up photography in high school and college she had no idea her creativity would lead her to become a business owner. After having three children, she started a part-time job as a portrait photographer, which led her to open her own studio in The Woodlands. Today, she operates Mindy Harmon Portrait Design, Lavish Salon and Karden Lane, all located in the same shopping center at Grogans Park Drive. Named after her three children, Karter Lane, Karson and Kaden, she said Karden Lane is committed to lifting women’s self-esteem through the boutique. Though the boutique is an extension of her portrait services, at Karden Lane, Harmon utilizes her creativity to help style women by giving them access to curated items not found in other places. What’s special about it? Harmon said her ability to style people based on
their body type and taste in fashion allows her to fulll her mission to help uplift women. “I was always able to style people in a way that made them feel great about themselves and bring out a side of themselves that they didn’t know existed,” Harmon said. Though the boutique caters to mature women, Harmon said Karden Lane oers bold, contempo- rary, fun and classic styles for everyone. “When women come to us, I can style them in a way that brings out [their] beauty .... And that’s really what my favorite part of this job is,” Harmon said. What else? At Karden Lane, women can nd clothing ranging from size extra-small to extra-large with items running from $50-$200. To further fulll its mission to uplift the com- munity, Karden Lane hosts events and donates a percentage of its sales to local organizations, including In the Pink of Health, Interfaith of The Woodlands, Montgomery County Youth Services and Inspiration Ranch. In addition, Karden Lane partners with HerScan, a breast ultrasound screening organization that helps detect breast cancer early. “Our heart, with all three businesses, is to uplift women and families in a way that supports the community as well,” Harmon said.
