Collin College will offer a new baccalaureate degree during the fall 2025 semester. The Bachelor of Applied Technology in software development is the college’s fifth baccalaureate degree program. The program will be housed at the Collin College Frisco Campus and will build on the school’s existing program that offers an Associate of Applied Science degree in software development. Students in the program will learn “real-world software development practices” and modern programming frameworks through hands-on experience, an April 16 news release states. “Graduates of the Bachelor of Applied Technology in software development will be prepared for a rewarding career in this high- demand, high-pay field,” said Diana Hopes, campus provost of the Frisco and Celina campuses, in the release. Admission to the new program requires admission to Collin College, a completed application to the program and educational prerequisites. The program will prepare students for professional roles such as software developers. “The Bachelor of Applied Technology in software development will give our students seeking advanced knowledge a path to higher level employment opportunities,” Collin College District President Neil Matkin said in the news release.
