Frenchies Modern Nail Care has brought manicures, pedicures and more in a medical-grade cleaned salon to Lakeway for nearly ve years. Meet the owners Frenchies owner Diana Wagner, along with her husband Keith, lived in the Lakeway area for 23 years prior to a recent move to Oregon. The Wag- ner’s previously owned a massage and facial spa and signed a franchise agreement with Frenchies in December 2019, just months before the COVID- 19 pandemic hit. The family hit many roadblocks as the salon was being built out during 2020, but despite the challenges, the salon ocially opened in Novem- ber 2020. “Only the strong survive, and we were very tenacious,” Wagner said. What they oer Frenchies oers manicures and pedicures using products that are “free of the harshest chemicals,” including healthy gel extension tips. The shop does not use traditional acrylic nail extensions, nail dips or certain nail les typically found in other salons. The salon also sells body care items such as body butters and sugar scrubs, which clients receive at the end of every service; has a mem- bership program where clients can prepay for their services and receive discounts; and is

appointment-based. “[Keith and I] used to go get pedicures for date night every month, and we had experienced where you make an appointment and you sit there and wait for 45 minutes,” Wagner said. “[Frenchies] is appointment-based because we value the time of our guests as well as our employees.” What’s special about it? The franchise’s mantra is “we love clean,” and Wagner said the salon goes “above and beyond” state cleanliness standards. The salon focuses on keeping salon space and nail equipment as clean as possible. Frenchies uses a medical-grade autoclave to sterilize metal nail equipment that is reused. Nonreusable items, such as porous les, nail buers and cuticle pushers, are either discarded or sent home with the client. The shop’s pedicure bowls are also jet-free, as Wagner said they can harbor bacteria. The shop additionally has energy recovery ventilation systems at each station, which is an individual vent that removes stale air and recircu- lates fresh air every 15 minutes. “Unlike multi-purpose salons where you’ll have hair sprays, dyes, or a salon where they’re doing acrylics and so forth, you have those harsh chemicals you’re smelling,” Wagner said. “You do not smell that at Frenchies. You come in and you don’t smell anything; it’s just fresh, clean air.”

Pedicure services are also available at the salon.
