AUGUST 19 RAISE YOUR PAWS Denton-based band Brave Combo and Shaws of Awe will perform at The Porch in downtown San Marcos as part of a benet concert and donation drive beneting the San Marcos Regional Animal Shelter. There will be a rae and a donation drive for items such as cat and dog food, treats, blankets, small beds and more. CELEBRATE THE ‘PIE CAPITAL OF TEXAS’ Gregg-Clarke Park

Following a two-year hiatus due to the COVID-19 pandemic, the annual Kyle Pie in the Sky celebration returns for one day only during Labor Day weekend. The event celebrates the “Pie Capital of Texas” with a pie baking contest, pie eating contests, sweet and savory pie vendors, and more. The celebration will also feature live music, a vendor market, a kids play area and tethered hot-air balloon rides overlooking the Hill Country. Unlike in previous years, this year’s celebration will be held at Gregg- Clarke Park near downtown. Noon. Free (admission). 1231 W.
