owning a restaurant in Highland Village was 18 years in the mak- ing. However, they said they don’t mind, as they enjoyed the “awesome times” they cooked up along the way. Awesome Times, the name they settled on for their American cuisine restaurant, celebrated one year in business in June. The restaurant serves hamburgers, Bu alo wings and chicken sandwiches in an atmosphere that they said. It has two televisions showing sporting events and a dining area featuring artwork revealing eclectic tastes. A painting shows two tater tots high- ving each other with the message, “The Tot Spot—Less Haters, More Taters.” Tamara said Jerry told her 18 years ago he wanted to open a restaurant. They opened a place they described as neither fancy nor pretentious. “We’ve been working for a long time to get here,” Tamara said. “[Jerry’s] done a lot of side doesn’t readily have a de ned description,

As well as working at the restaurant, Tamara is also a preschool teacher in Highland Village. “The community support has been overwhelming,” she said. “We have been blown away at how much support we’ve gotten from people.”
