in a trade school education, accord- ing to Georey Fisher, service man- ager at Mercedes-Benz of Grapevine. “To really spark interest in these kids and show them what the business is like, I think it’s invaluable,” Fisher said. LISD accommodating demand LISD is in the process of expanding TECC East because of demand. The expansion is one of the nal projects included in the 2017 bond. New programs are slated to launch in LISD as soon as this fall. LISD’s energy program will be available in the 2023-24 school year. The addition makes LISD one of few school districts to oer programs in all 14 TEA-ap- proved programs of study, according to LISD ocials. A dental program and o-road diesel program are anticipated to launch by fall 2025, and ocials are monitoring the demand for an aviation program and looking into the possibility of inte- grating a piloting or mechanic course, Cooper said. Also being added is a sec- ond welding program and expanded auto tech program, Cooper said. While LISD ocials monitor student

science. Argyle students may also participate in the other classes that are oered at the LaGrone Academy in Denton, as there is an agreement with Denton ISD to allow students to participate. Demand for particular classes determines AISD’s response for which classes or disciplines to oer or pursue. The CTE program aords students a chance to sort out what they want in a career. Plus, Jordan said, they’re learning great life experience and life skills, too. “Our goal is to prepare students for their future career, but it’s always a great way for them to investigate future careers,” Jordan said. “I’ve had students ask, ‘How do you know what you want to do when you’ve never done it?’ This is a great way for them to have a chance to try out these dierent careers before they go to college, and invest that time and invest that money, and they poten- tially nd out that that isn’t an area of interest for them.”

interest and waitlists at its career cen- ters, unfullled demand numbers will not always be eliminated, Cooper said. “As programs continue to grow, ways that we can alleviate the wait- lists are by looking at opportunities to move programs to the main high school campuses or to help students identify programs that may be similar to the programs [that are over capac- ity],” he said. AISD plans new programs In AISD, the high school sends an interest survey every year to students to see whether there are enough stu- dents interested in a new career path- way, and the one garnering interest is education, Jordan said. “That’s the next [program] we hope to start, probably not this year but the following school year—[20]24-25,” she said, referring to education. There are ve areas of study at the Argyle High School campus: busi- ness/marketing/nance; STEM (sci- ence, technology, engineering and math-engineering); law and public service/law enforcement; hospitality and tourism-culinary arts; and health
