MEF presents teachers $59K in grant funds In February, the Magnolia Education Foundation presented a $59,177.86 check to MISD to support teachers’ class projects. The money was split across 17 dierent grants to 25 dierent teachers across nine MISD campuses, per a Feb. 10 news release.

LSCS ends year with $163M net income Lone Star College System nished the 2024-25 scal year with a net income of $163 million , after subtracting expenses from revenues, per LSCS’ Annual Comprehensive Financial Report. Blinn College breaks ground on new Waller Campus

SHSU increases free tuition threshold to $100K Families making up to $100,000 are now eligible for the Bearkat Promise program at Sam Houston State University, after the university announced Feb. 24 that it was raising the family income eligibility threshold from $40,000. In a nutshell The Bearkat Promise program provides eligible students with the mandatory tuition and fees they need for up to 15 credit hours per semester, according to its website. The increased income threshold starts in fall 2026. The program is renewable for up to three con- secutive years and does not include coverage of nonmandatory fees such as housing or meal plans, according to the news release. On March 6, Blinn College hosted a groundbreak- ing ceremony on the 100-acre property that will be the home of the new Waller campus. How it happened The new facility came to fruition due to leg- islation passed by Texas Sen. Lois W. Kolkhorst, RBrenham, which added the Harris County portion of Waller ISD to Blinn’s ocial service area, she said during the ceremony. Kolkhorst expressed her joy at the growth not only of Blinn College but also of the Waller area as a whole. “It’s a physical symbol of the commitment for the future of [the] Texas area that is growing so dynami- cally,” Kolkhorst said. The facility will be three stories tall with class- rooms, laboratories, student study spaces and on-site administrative oces, per a news release.
