5 new Art Bike Racks unveiled in The Woodlands This year, the rst artistically inspired bike racks join the assortment of public art on view through- out The Woodlands. The Woodlands Arts Council unveiled the rst ve designs in late 2023. Jenny Carattini-Wright, executive director of The Woodlands Arts Council, said the council pro- motes the public art projects, asks for underwrit- ers, brings in the artists and curates the designs, and The Woodlands Township then installs and takes care of the installation for 10 years or longer depending on its longevity. The rst four Art Bike Racks installed are: • “5th Symphony Hedge” by Carolina Gonzalez at the Cynthia Woods Mitchell Pavilion • “Joyous Journey” by Jana Zaatreh at Riva Row Boat House • “Faith, Hope & Joy” by Robert Heinzelman at Hughes Landing • “TWTX” by Michelle Old, Stacy Moore and Kevin Giuseppetti at The Woodlands Mall basin ring What’s next The last of the ve initial bike racks will be titled “Reections” and will be installed in Waterway Square, Carattini-Wright said. “This bike rack was designed to express the key character of The Woodlands,” Carattini-Wright said. “The artists of this bike rack want the design to remind people that they have the power to change and mold the community.”
Jana Zaatreh discusses her work “Joyous Journey” at an event unveiling the bike racks in October.
