Water symposium sets precedent for forums The rst Montgomery County Water Symposium was held Dec. 6 at The Atrium Center in New Caney to discuss potential resolutions to issues including water rates, access to aquifers, conserva- tion and subsidence. What happened Hank Vat, owner of Studio One Three Media, hosted the symposium as the rst step in the creation of a consortium covering the topics of both groundwater and surface water. Jim Spigener, president of the Lone Star Ground- water Conservation District board of directors, said getting citizens involved is critical to solving problems without government intervention. Local boards to hold Feb. 17 election Filing for more than 100 elected positions in The Woodlands took place through Jan. 18 for a Feb. 17 election. The positions are for seats on boards such as The Woodlands Residential Design Review Committees and village associations. The RDRCs are ve-member resident-elected committees with one-year terms. Members review applications for property improvement. Village associations are civic associations with one- or two-year terms. Other topics included how to manage aquifers, water conservation and community involvement. Vat said another symposium will be held with a larger panel within the rst quarter of 2024.
