CISD considers calendar options

Stay tuned

Sauceda-Upshaw said respondents to an initial survey had indicated a preference for a mid-August starting date and a last day for students before Memorial Day. Superintendent Curtis Null said the district gets more feedback on school calendars than on any other topic from families. However, it can be challenging to engage all of the stakeholders in the district, ocials said. According to a Jan. 2 social media post from the district, a subsequent calendar draft survey closed Jan. 5 for stakeholders to weigh in on the two calendar options. The board was scheduled to consider adopting the calendars for 2024-25 and 2025-26 on Jan. 16, after press time. Visit communityimpact.com for updates.

Upshaw, assistant superintendent for teaching and learning. Both calendars include 172 days of instruction with an Aug. 14 start, the last day of school on May 23, a winter break from Dec. 23-Jan. 6 and spring break from March 17-21.

Following a district survey, the Conroe ISD board of trustees discussed options for the 2024-25 calendar at its Dec. 12 meeting. Of the nal options being considered, the rst option contains several four-day weekends, and the second did not, said Hedith Sauceda-
