HIGHLIGHTS FROM THIS MONTH
FROM CODY: Hello, everyone! I am Cody, and I am the new editor of this publication. I have been involved in journalism for the past 23 years, most recently in Kansas City, Missouri. I’ll make this the Cliffs Notes version of my background. My journalism journey started my senior year of high school for my hometown paper in Joplin, Missouri. I started writing about sports and did that for a good chunk of my career before shifting to news coverage in recent years. I was fortunate enough to cover a pair of World Series in 2014 and 2015, and saw my favorite team, the Royals, win a title in the second go-round. A few years later, I was lucky enough to be in Miami to watch the Chiefs win the Super Bowl. I’m a big sports fan, but it is nice to watch games as a fan and not writing about them all the time. I landed in Texas in August, yet another transplant coming to the Lone Star State from a different region. While I’m new here, I have been here often in recent years. My fiancee, Jaymee, has family in the Dallas and Houston areas, and she was born in Pasadena before moving to Kansas years ago, where I met her. I have fallen in love with this area in a few short months, and I know she already loves it. I look forward to learning more about Texas and the communities I cover. I have had a chance to meet people in a lot of these communities, and I look forward to meeting more the longer I am here. If you ever see me out, please introduce yourself. And, if you ever want to talk sports, be warned, I could talk for a while. Cody Thorn, Editor

"I support this paper because the information it provides is so valuable and lacking these days. The unbiased articles help my understanding about my community. I think a paper like CI should exist for all regions in Texas." TABITHA L.
"When CI Patrons give, it helps fund our hyperlocal reporting and hire more journalists to take CI coverage to the next level. Community giving overall strengthens our opportunity to be a light in our industry." JOE WARNER
