Pugerville increases wastewater capacity Pugerville city ocials gathered June 13 to celebrate a groundbreaking on a new $247 mil- lion wastewater treatment facility on the eastern side of the city on Gregg Lane. The big picture The project at the Wilbarger Creek Regional Wastewater Treatment facility, which has been in the planning phase since 2008, is a “critical step” for infrastructure expansion to service the future growth of the city, according to a news release. Developer proposes 77 townhome, condo units A preliminary plat for a new townhome and condo development located near Farley Middle School on CR 137 received preliminary approval from the city of Hutto’s planning and zoning commission June 4. The developer is now going through the permitting process for the project. The details The plat outlines plans for two commercial lots and one condominium lot on the 10-acre property, where the development will be known as the Village at Brooklands. The commercial portion of the development will include retail and restaurants, while the condo- minium lot includes 77 townhomes and condos. Wilbarger Creek Park upgrades underway The second phase of renovations in underway on the Wilbarger Creek Park on Kingston Lacy Boulevard in Pugerville, with construction anticipated to be done by this fall, according to a May update from the city. Stone Hill Park to get new multisport court The city of Pugerville, in partnership with the 4ATX Foundation, is building a new multisport court at Stone Hill Park. The gist The court, which is expected to be com- pleted by mid-August, will give residents a place to play basketball, soccer and other sports at the park. At a cost of $343,005, the project is being funded by park development fees.

In response, McCann said development plans are still preliminary, and the company will conduct another market study in the fall to solidify the best use of the property. City Manager Thomas Hunter said. “This facility will support our city’s growth, particularly in the eastern areas, and ensure that we provide top-notch wastewater treatment services for now and beyond.” The need for a new treatment facility was triggered during the pandemic, when the Central Wastewater Treatment Plant reached 75% of its capacity, according to a news release. However, the city anticipated this need years ago and purchased land for the new plant in 2009.
