WISD board calls for $218M bond election in May The Willis ISD board of trustees unanimously adopted an order Jan. 10 calling for a $218.1 million school building bond election May 4. What you need to know If approved, the four propositions would provide funds for a Willis High School ninth-grade expansion, an athletic complex and stadium, an aquatic center and a student activity center. Items left off the bond include a staff day care center, Elementary School No. 8 and Middle School No. 4. District officials said if the bond passes, the maximum resulting tax rate increase would be $0.079 per $100 of valuation. Scholarship Chili Cook-Off The Montgomery County Fair and Rodeo is hosting its annual chili cook-off supporting high school seniors. In addition, there’s a cornhole tournament, bloody mary competition and prizes. The Conroe ISD board of trustees approved attendance zones for Bartlett Elementary and other campuses within the Caney Creek and Conroe high school feeder zones Jan. 16. In a nutshell The board approved Scenario 9.1.2, which Assistant Superintendent of Operations Chris McCord said was one of 27 different options. The approved scenario will help: • Six campuses that are overcapacity move to under capacity • Reduce the capacity at Creighton Elemen- tary School by 250 students McCord said 44% of the students impacted by the rezoning are moving to Bartlett, which was funded by the November 2019 bond and will open in August.
