Humble moves forward with $345K Uptown Park renovations

On Aug. 10, Humble City Council approved $345,000 in renovations for Uptown Park set to be completed ahead of the upcoming holiday season. The background Built in 1991, Uptown Park encompasses more than half an acre and features a stage, a gazebo, picnic tables, playground equipment and public restrooms, per the city’s website. What residents should know The project contract was awarded to Bey Com- mercial Construction. The project will involve clearing and remodeling the area to include an updated park space and music area. Council members noted concerns about ensuring the park will be available in time to host the city’s annual Christmas celebration and parade, which is scheduled for Dec. 5. City Manager Jason Stuebe assured meetings with Bey will begin as soon as possible to move forward with the project.

They are dependable and [have] had success [in] the past,” Mayor Norman Funderburk said. What’s next Bidding for the contract began in October, and the project is set to be complete by early December.
