EISD trustees approve affordable housing partnership for staff The Eanes ISD board of trustees is searching for potential properties that will offer affordable housing to the district’s staff. The gist The board of trustees approved an agreement with the Texas Workforce Housing Foundation for the affordable housing search during a board meeting Dec. 12. The Texas Workforce Housing Foundation is a nonprofit corporation that develops and manages affordable housing projects. Eanes ISD employees were surveyed by district officials last year, and 68% indicated that they would live in a community that provides housing for EISD employees at a reduced rent, Superinten- dent Jeff Arnett said.

“Housing costs in our area are especially high. I also know that many of our teachers and other sta members, including custodial sta, food services sta, bus drivers, maintenance workers and

others, live outside of our district because of the high cost of living.” JAMES SPRADLEY, EISD BOARD PRESIDENT

In 2022, the median family income for the Aus- tin-Round Rock metropolitan area was $110,300 for a family of four, according to the city of Austin Housing and Planning Department. Round Rock ISD and Pflugerville ISD have entered into similar agreements with the Texas Workforce Housing Foundation.
