Urrutia previously served as the assistant chief deputy of the El Paso County Sher- i’s Oce, where he oversaw nearly 260 ocers and support sta. He earned both a master’s and bachelor’s degree in crim- inal justice from Purdue University, and graduated from the FBI’s National Academy in Quantico, Virginia.

ACC receives $200K from Samsung for training Austin Community College has received addi- tional funding to go to its semiconductor training program with $200,000 coming from Samsung Austin Semiconductor, the college announced in a news release. The gist The ACC board of trustees accepted the gift from Samsung during a regular meeting Sept. 9, and announced plans to invest the dollars into the Semiconductor Technician Advanced Rapid Start program, or STARS. The four-week, full-time program oers students a pathway into manufacturing technician roles by providing theoretical and hands-on training. While the school has previously oered the pro- gram at only its Highland campus, the latest funding will allow ACC to invest in the equipment needed to oer the program at its Round Rock campus.

ACC plans to use the existing space at its Round Rock campus to support the immediate expansion of the program. However, construction on a new facility is expected next year, according to the release, and the ACC Foundation has proposed naming the new advanced manufacturing classroom the “Samsung Austin Semiconductor Advanced Manufacturing Lab.”
