Hwy. 146 expressway bridge, 6 new lanes to open in February

After four years of construction, the expansion of Hwy. 146 between Red Blu Road and south of FM 518 as well as the addition of a new expressway bridge to allow for bypass trac to Seabrook, is nearing completion. The gist By the end of February, drivers can travel across the four lanes of the new expressway bridge, said Bambi Hall, public information ocer for the Texas Department of Transportation. In addition to adding the expressway bridge, the $214 million project will increase the number of lanes along Hwy. 146 from six to 12. The project will reduce congestion and make the road more viable as an emergency escape route, according to TxDOT’s website.
