NOTICE Virtual Public Meeting

FM 529 from SH 99 (Grand Parkway) to FM 362 CSJ 1006-01-074, 1006-02-009, & 1006-01-079 (JH) Harris and Waller Counties, Texas

Given the unique circumstance of the COVID-19 outbreak, along with our commitment to protecting public health during this national emergency, the Texas Department of Transportation (TxDOT) Houston District is conducting this virtual public meeting to avoid in-person contact. TxDOT is proposing to widen the roadway along Farm to Market (FM) 529 from State Highway (SH) 99 (Grand Parkway) to FM 362 in Harris and Waller Counties, Texas. The virtual public meeting will be available on the TxDOT website beginning Tuesday, June 9, 2020, at 5:30 P.M. through 11:59 P.M. on Thursday, June 25, 2020. To log onto the meeting, go to www.txdot.gov, keyword search FM 529. The virtual meeting will consist of a narrated presentation by the project team, project exhibits and other information, and an opportunity to comment. If you do not have internet access, you may call (713) 802-5260 to ask questions about the project and access project materials at any time during the project development process. Formal comments may be provided by mail, online, or email, as explained below. The purpose of the virtual public meeting is to present the proposed project to the public and receive comments. The proposed design includes both rural and urban sections. The urban section would include widening the existing FM 529 from a two-lane roadway to a six-lane roadway, with a raised median between SH 99 and Katy Hockley Cut Off Road, and this would also include a 10-foot shared-use path on both sides of the roadway. The rural section would include widening FM 529 to a four-lane roadway, with a raised median between Katy Hockley Cut Off Road and FM 362. Sidewalks are proposed within the rural section on both sides of the roadway. Any environmental documentation or studies, maps, and drawings showing the project location and design; tentative construction schedules; and other information regarding the proposed project are available online at www.txdot.gov, keyword search FM 529. TxDOT makes every reasonable effort to accommodate the needs of the public. The virtual public meeting will be in English (though the presentation will also be available in Spanish). If you have a special communication accommodation or need for an interpreter, a request can be made. If you have a disability and need assistance, special arrangements can also be made to accommodate most needs. Please call TxDOT’s Public Information Office at (713) 802-5076 no later than Friday, June 5, 2020. Please be aware that advance notice is requested as some accommodations may require time for TxDOT to arrange. Written comments from the public regarding the proposed project are requested and may be submitted by mail to the TxDOT Houston District, Director of Project Development, P.O. Box 1386, Houston, Texas 77251. Written comments may also be submitted by email to hou-piowebmail@txdot.gov or online at www.txdot.gov, keyword search FM 529. Please reference CSJ 1006-01-074 (JH) on all comments. All comments must be received by Thursday, June 25, 2020. Responses to comments received will be available online at www.txdot.gov, keyword search FM 529 once they have been prepared. If you have any general questions or concerns regarding the proposed project or the virtual meeting, please contact Samuel Ainabe, project manager, at (713) 802-5260 or samuel.ainabe@txdot.gov. The environmental review, consultation, and other actions required by applicable Federal environmental laws for this project are being, or have been, carried-out by TxDOT pursuant to 23 U.S.C. 327 and a Memorandum of Understanding dated December 9, 2019 and executed by FHWA and TxDOT.
