PART 2
A portion of I-35 that runs from FM 306 to the Hays-Comal County border is on track to be completed in Summer 2022, according to Texas Department of Transportation ocials. The $63.8 million segment includes updated ramps, frontage roads, park and ride facilities and elevated portions of the road. In October 2021, the Conrads Lane/Kohlenberg Road over- pass was demolished to make way for the elevated segment of I-35, according to TxDOT. A road connecting Conrads Lane and Kohlenberg Road will pass under the newly constructed portion of I-35, and TxDOT ocials anticipate the new underpass to open in summer 2022. While construction is underway, eastbound trac will be rerouted to the southbound frontage road and westbound trac will be rerouted to the northbound frontage road. Drivers can utilize intersections at FM 306 and a new intersection between Kohlenberg Road andWatson Lane to turn around. A new bridge at Watson Lane is also slated to be con- structed as part of the project, but TxDOT ocials said the bridge is still in the planning stage and no construction date has been set.
