Horizon 76American Grill House American spirit provides Keller eatery with patriotic ambiance F .ueled by decades of friendship and restaurant industry experience, Je Lowery, Dwight Dowell and Chris Polk launched Horizon 76 American Grill House in Keller on June 18, 2020. The business trio created an experience steeped in Ameri- cana, complete with U.S. ags, food and music. “I was jealous of these Mexican restaurants that have all the heritage on the walls. You walk in, and you have a good vibe of Mexico,” Lowery said. “I felt I had never seen an American restaurant like that.” In addition to being co-owner of the business, Dowell is the executive chef and a Keller resident. He said he is excited about the menu and pointed out the uniqueness of many items, including the burgers that are made with an equal blend of let mignon, prime chuck and brisket. “No one in the world has a fried chicken pot pie but this restaurant,” Dowell said. “No one in the world does chili with let mignon; everybody has ground chili meat. We hand-cut the let every day of the week for the chili.” This location was originally a TGI Fridays built in 2005. Over the years, it housed several other restaurants and bars before it became home to Horizon 76. Renovations, which took about a year to complete, included painting the orange walls in natural tones and adding stone, brick and wood accents to create an atmosphere that Lowery describes as “polished casual.” “America, I’ve always felt, is what you can be. It’s a feeling—not just a location, not just a country, but a vibe,” Lowery said, explaining how he chose the business name. “On the horizon, we can always be better. I tied in the 76 because we were founded in 1776.” The partners purchased the neighboring building for their next restaurant concept, Outpost 36 Texas Barbecue. Construction is underway, and it is scheduled to open this fall. There are plans to open ve Horizon 76 franchises in Colorado by 2023. BY KAREN CHANEY
