HUTTO Mayor Pro Tem Tanner Rose resigned Jan. 14 from his seat on Hutto City Council. Rose indicated through a message on social media that the city later confirmed that he and his family are moving away from Hutto, and he will no longer be qualified to serve as a result. Rose’s seat, Place 6, is one of three council positions up for election in May. “I have loved my time serving the great people of Hutto and was looking forward to a fun election season that was about to take place,” Rose said in his resignation notice to council. “I wish you all and this great city nothing but the best moving forward.” Following Rose’s resignation, former Hutto Mayor Debbie Holland

cil nominated Holland in 4-2 vote, with council members Peter Gordon and Mandi Villarreal Salvo voting for Todd Robison, who serves as director of purchasing for Hutto ISD. As part of her tenure with Hutto, Holland has served several terms on City Council and was elected the city’s mayor in 2011, a position she held until 2016. Currently, she serves on the board of directors for the Keep Hutto Beautiful Foundation. “[Holland] understands a lot of the issues that we’re dealing with right now,” Mayor Mike Snyder said. “She has more experience serving on this dais than each one of us combined.” According to Snyder, Holland has indicated that she has no intention of running for office in May.
