Northwest ISD announces Foust is lone nalist for superintendent job Mark Foust is the lone nalist and will be the next superintendent of Northwest ISD. He was chosen during the board of trustees meeting Dec. 12. He will ll the role held by David Hicks earlier this school year prior to his sudden death on Sept. 9. Michael Grin was appointed interim superintendent following the passing of Hicks, who was in his rst year working for the district. The board had three rounds of interviews with candidates before picking Foust. His hire becomes ocial after a state-required 21-day waiting period, and he is tentatively scheduled to start in January, according to the district. “I am honored and excited to become part of the Northwest ISD community,” Foust said in a press release. Foust has held a similar position at Kerrville ISD the past six years. During his tenure at Kerrville, the district implemented new STEM programs, expanded career and tech options, and helped the district pass a $89 million bond in 2018.

LEWISVILLE ISD The board of trustees approved the district’s 2023-24 academic calendar, which includes 177 instructional days. The 2023-24 calendar, which was approved during the Dec. 12 board meeting, will have an Aug. 9 start date with exams for the rst semes- ter to be completed before winter break, which will run from Dec. 16, 2023-Jan. 3, 2024, according to the calendar. Students will have March 11-15 o for spring break. Classes will end before Memorial Day on May 23. The calendar approval comes after the board discussed calendar options in November, and the district gathered input through two community surveys. ARGYLE ISD The board approved $2.997 million for renovation work at two district locations. The board approved the funding to go toward renovating two district buildings to be used for the transpor- tation and maintenance departments. The funding for the project comes from the 2017 bond. The project will provide additional oce space and a new break room within the current building. It will also provide a completely new space for the maintenance department in the metal building behind Argyle Intermediate School. Several community members spoke during public comment about what this will mean for the district’s archery team that uses the building at the intermediate school. District ocials are working to nd another location for the team to use.

Based on feedback, Option A was favored by 63% of the estimated 11,000 survey respondents, LISD Chief of Sta Shawna Miller said. “I appreciate that in this district we survey our community, and we ask their opinion,” LISD Board Member Jenny Proznik said. “I appreciate those who participated in the survey.”
