Frisco City Council grants permit for assisted living facility
A new assisted living facility is coming to Frisco. Frisco City Council members unanimously approved an ordinance granting a speci c use permit for an assisted living and nursing or convalescent home during an Oct. 17 meeting. The assisted living home will also be used as a memory care facility on approximately 3 acres on the south side of Printers Way and east of Legacy Parkway, according to meeting documents. The details Plans for the facility were unanimously approved with a 5-0 vote, as Commissioner Sean Merrel recused himself, at an Aug. 22 Frisco Planning and Zoning Commission meeting before council’s unanimous Sept. 19 approval. Council’s Oct. 17 approval was to o cially update the zoning ordinance and grant the facili- ty’s speci c use permit on the property, according to meeting documents. Once built, the facility will provide: • 61 assisted living units • 27 memory care housing units

• A nearly 10,000-square-foot outdoor area Assisted-living facilities specialize in providing care and supervision. Memory care facilities specialize in providing care to seniors with Alzheimer’s, dementia and other cognitive issues. Stay tuned The incoming facility will join a handful of other memory care and assisted living-focused facilities in the city. More details are expected to be revealed once facility construc- tion begins. Frisco currently has about 13 other facilities that are catered to assisted living and memory care.
