All four campuses were built west of Dallas Parkway to account for the growth happening on that side of town, which is part of the long- term strategy to manage the district’s growth, Ferguson said. “By establishing new schools on the west side of the district, we can provide students with closer, more accessible learning environments,” she said. “This expansion is also crucial for easing the overcrowding issues at our existing campuses, ensuring that every student has the space and resources they need to thrive academically.” These campuses are not the last to open for the district. Two new middle schools are also slated to open next year along with a new building for Rucker Elementary, which originally opened in 1995 as Prosper Elementary and later renamed. The location of the new campuses were based on demographic studies and student enrollment projections, which showed residential and population growth happening on the west and northwest side of the district.
