There are nearly 8,000 students in the district who are considered economically disadvantaged, Hayden said. Those students would qualify to shop at the closet along with students experiencing emergencies, such as being in the foster care system or experiencing a house re. “[It’s clothing] you would want to send your child to school in,” Hayden said. FRISCO The Frisco Threads’ organi- zation opened its closet again for the 2023-24 school year to help students in need. Frisco Threads is operated by the Frisco ISD Council of Parent-Teacher Associations. The closet opened for the rst time in August 2021. The rst shopping day for the 2023-24 school year was Aug. 10. Shopping trips are available every Thursday throughout the year. The details Students and families are typically referred to the closet through school counselors, and they must apply to shop, said Stephanie Hayden, FISD’s Council of PTA’s clothes closet chairperson. Students, once their application is approved, can shop at the closet once a semester. The shopping trips

• All volunteers welcome with completed background check through FISD, no special skills needed • Volunteer opportunities are Mondays on workdays or Thursdays on shopping days

• Donations of gently used clothing begin Aug 28 and every following Thursday at Acker Special Programs Center from 9 a.m.-12 p.m. • Looking for businesses and local community partners (service organizations/groups, PTAs, booster clubs, etc.) for donation drives for new items such as underwear, pjs, hats/gloves, athletic shoes • Threads Wishlists can be accessed from the organization’s website

Donate clothes

• Clothes that are needed range in size youth 3T to adult XXL. These items can be new or gently used
