The mandated parking reduc- tion amendment drops the 50% reduction to 30% for any expanding or new retail spaces, according to meeting documents. It also excludes outdoor seating and restaurants from the reduction as city officials look to incentivize more outdoor spaces downtown. Planning and Zoning Commission members approved a site plan for the center during their July 25 meeting. Site plan details include two hospital buildings, one parking garage and one central utility plant split between two lots located on a 37.1-acre northeast corner of Dallas Parkway and PGA Parkway, accord- ing to meeting documents. What we know: A request to rezone the land for a hospital first appeared on the commission’s agenda in June 2022 and was later approved by City Council at a July 5, 2022, meeting. “Any time we can get expansion of medical uses in this capacity, it is always a big win for the citizens of Frisco and the region,” Mayor Jeff Cheney said in 2022.
