Work on Green Tee Bridge in Pearland to wrap up this spring “We are working with the contractor to get the bridge opened as soon as possible,” Perez said in

Roughly six months after work started, Texas Department of Transportation officials said they are making progress on replacing Green Tee Bridge along Country Club Drive in Pearland. The full story Community Impact previously reported the project was anticipated to begin in January. However, work started in March, TxDOT Pub- lic Information Officer Danny Perez said in a Sept. 26 email. The project is expected to take a total of a year to complete, with Perez saying the agency expects it to be done in the spring. The timeline has the agency “slightly ahead of schedule,” he said. Green Tee Bridge was aging and replacing it became necessary to allow for future expansion, Perez said. The work consists of replacing the old bridge and paving on the road approaching the bridge. The new bridge is higher and wider than the original.

One of the challenges with the project included having to redesign the traffic control plan, which included a temporary signal at the alternate route to improve traffic flow, Perez said. That required a traffic study and design of the signal. That alternate route includes a detour through a subdivision as the bridge is completely closed. The agency also had to deal with utility issues, which pushed the timeline into 2024, Perez said. The project in total cost $3.17 million, according to documents from TxDOT. The breakdown includes: • $2.2M from the federal government • $0.37M from TxDOT • $0.53M from the city of Pearland

Stay tuned The bridge being up to current design stan- dards will help prepare for the upcoming $18 million Clear Creek Flood Management Project from the Harris County Flood Control District, or the HCFCD, Perez said. That project will bring several stormwater and environmental enhance- ments, HCFCD documents show.
