What are the biggest challenges for residents, and how will you address them? Candidate did not respond to questionnaire by press time.
In your view, what can the state do about rising property taxes? The first thing we should do is to control the excessive increases in property values through the appraisal districts. My top priority is reinstating women’s reproductive rights. Access to reproductive care is a human right. We must ensure access to reproductive health care services which include contraception, prenatal care and safe abortions. Reproductive rights are about bodily autonomy. We as women must be in control of our own bodies.
I think reproductive rights, voting rights, immigration reform, health care, jobs and the economy, the environment and education are the biggest issues facing residents in District 22. I would work to codify Roe v. Wade, pass the John Lewis Voting Rights Advancement Act and pass a bipartisanship immigration bill to start.
My top priority is to defend and strengthen public education in Texas. I will fight against efforts to divert funding from public schools, ensure every child has access to quality education and support educators with the resources they need to help students succeed.
The state can address rising property taxes by increasing state funding for public schools, which would reduce the reliance on local property taxes.
