Texas State to offer aviation science degree Beginning in the fall semester, Texas State University will offer a new aviation science degree to address the growing national demand for pilots. In partnership with Coast Flight Training, the city of San Marcos and Texas Aviation Partners, the university will begin offering a Bachelor of Applied Arts and Science degree with a concentra- tion in aviation science. The course will provide a pathway to certifications and licensure required for professional pilots, according to a news release. Hays CISD hires new assistant principals Hays CISD has hired two new assistant principals for the 2024-25 school year. The board of trustees unanimously approved the new hires during its regular meeting July 22. The details Clarissa Arredondo will become assistant principal at Tom Green Elementary School. Arredondo previously taught at Rodriguez Elementary in San Marcos CISD, according to HCISD Superintendent Eric Wright. Christine Velasquez will become assistant principal at Johnson High School. Velasquez has 26 years of experience and was most recently an instructional coach at Lehman High School, according to Wright.
