Conroe ISD approves 2 new school boundaries The Conroe ISD board of trustees on Jan. 23 approved attendance zones for Eissler and Camp- bell elementary schools. Both schools will open in August. The discussion Eissler, a K-6 school, will feed into The Wood- lands High School and provide relief to Bush and Buckalew elementary schools as well as Mitchell and Deretchin intermediate schools. Campbell will provide relief to Suchma, Oak Ridge and San Jacinto elementary schools in the Oak Ridge and Caney Creek high school feeder zones. Quote of note “Our backs are against the wall at Bush,” Assis- tant Superintendent of Operations Chris McCord said. “We have no room for portables at all.”
CISD finalizes 2025-26 spring break dates The Conroe ISD board of trustees on Jan. 23 decided to keep the 2025-26 calendar as it was originally planned, with spring break set for the week of March 9, 2026. Breaking it down Less than 6,000 people completed a response to a survey asking for input on the CISD 2025-26 calendar, down from 16,000 the previous year, said Hedith Sauceda-Up- shaw, the district’s assistant superintendent for teaching and learning. Of the respondents, 46% preferred the March 9 spring break, while 54% favored holding it in the week of March 16, but the board nonetheless chose March 9. Officials said among the factors leading the decision were daylight saving time starting March 8.
Tomball ISD calls $429M May 3 bond package The Tomball ISD school board on Feb. 11 unan- imously voted to call a school bond package this May with four propositions totaling $429.1 million. What you need to know TISD Chief Financial Officer Zack Boles said during a Jan. 13 meeting that due to debt capacity, the 2025 bond package could be no more than $430 million without increasing the tax rate. The committee initially recommended a $529.68 million package, including five potential propo- sitions that could be included. A proposition to update natatoriums for $880,000 was removed in the final discussion. What’s next Boles said the total tax rate under the proposed bond would remain at $1.06 per $100 valuation if the measure is approved by voters.
Conroe ISD adopts legislative agenda Members of the Conroe ISD board of trustees on Jan. 23 discussed the board’s legislative priorities for the 89th Texas Legislature, which commenced Jan. 14. The framework The board’s legislative priorities, accord- ing to the agenda packet, include the following: • Update funding system • Improve technology infrastructure • Secure funding for school safety • Give districts discretion over discipline A motion to adopt the priorities as-is failed by a vote of 2-5, but the board voted 7-0 to add several items to the list, such as reducing the number of mandated state tests.
