TRAVIS COUNTY Commissioners announced Sept. 20 extended early voting hours, additional polling locations and increased poll worker pay. The plan to extend voting hours and locations was rst brought to commissioners by Travis County Clerk Rebecca Guerrero, who said in a news release she wanted to make voting more convenient in the county. Early voting for the Nov. 8 election begins Oct. 24 and ends Nov. 4. Voting hours will be extended to 9 p.m. at ve megacenters, including at the PACE Campus “Rock” Gym in Pugerville. Travis County voters can also go to any of the other 38 early voting polling locations in the county, which will be open from 7 a.m.-7 p.m. “In Travis County, people should be able to cast their ballot when and how it works for them,” County Judge Andy Brown said in a news release. “We stand with our essential workers to ensure our democracy works for everyone.” The county also increased election worker pay to $20 an hour and gave de-escalation training to employees for added safety. “These positions are absolutely essential to making sure that everybody has an opportunity to

WILLIAMSON COUNTY Commissioners approved allocating about $17.5 million for the 2018-23 capital improvement program out of the $17.8 million set aside in the scal year 2022-23 budget. Big-ticket items include $4 million for information technology services, more than $3.5 million for regional parks in the county and $1.6 million to move the M42 Taylor Ambulance Station out of the ood plain. Commissioner Valerie Covey said funds will come from the capital improvements plan in the general fund budget. The court debated on the amount to allocate for technology services. It ultimately set aside $4 million “to fund an upgrade or replacement of our current dispatch and law enforcement records management system software,” Director of Public Safety Technology Richard Semple

PFLUGERVILLE New utility rates went into eect for Pugerville residents Oct. 1, resulting in a higher bill for most users. For users, the base monthly charge for water will increase from $19 to $24 and the volume charge will go up. For wastewater, the base charge will increase from $29 to $31. The average user can expect to spend $72.10 on water and $57 on wastewater, for a total bill increase of $21. WATER RATES The city of Pugerville has new water rates as of Oct. 1.

HUTTO Construction began in late September on new trac circles as part of upgrades to the Old Town and Durango Farms districts following City Council’s approval Sept. 15. The city will add trac circles at the intersections of Main and Liberty streets, East and Hutto streets, and East and West Live Oak streets.
