Progress continues on LISD bond projects Lewisville ISD’s board of trustees approved engineering selections and guar- anteed maximum prices for several bond projects during a December meeting. The $1 billion bond in 2023 funds technol- ogy upgrades and life cycle improvements at various campuses. The $101.8 million bond in 2024 funds maintenance, repairs and renovations at various facilities. The details Out of the 2023 bond, Degan Elementary is set to receive a playground equipment replacement, which has a cost of $639,730. The bond also outlined nearly $2.64 million for pavement replacement at Degan that will take place in the 2025 and 2026 summers. Trustees also approved the $1.5 million pur- chase of teacher iPads with protective cases.

Coppell ISD enrollment could drop by almost 2K students in 10 years Projections indicate Coppell ISD enrollment could dip by 1,970 students by the 2034-35 school year. The decline is due to limited future development and housing options for families with children and an over 300-student disparity between the 2024-25 graduating class and the 2024-25 kindergarten class, Zonda Education demographer Rocky Gardiner said. What to know CISD enrollment for the 2024-25 school year was 13,209 and could fall to 13,049 by next year, Gardiner said. In recent years, demographers have seen a shift toward homeschooling and private schools that are also contributing to enrollment decline, he added. Using the state funding formula at $6,160 per student, the projected 1,970-student decline would result in a funding loss of over $12 million.

Going forward Staff are also working on a boundary adjustment and rezoning plan as a result of Pinkerton Ele- mentary’s closure and the consolidation of school programs, Superintendent Brad Hunt said. The board will consider approval of rezoning plans by Feb. 24 and the decisions will take effect in the 2025-26 school year.
