The cities of Lakeway and Bee Cave will host the Special Olympics Texas Winter Games 2023 in February. Over 1,000 attendees are anticipated for this event; the games will take place around Bee Cave and Lakeway. WORTH THE TRIP Jan. 29 Get ready for a wedding The Dripping Springs Visitors Bureau will host The Wedding Capital of Texas Showcase and Tour Day at the end of January. Local vendors will be available to visit, chat and discuss upcoming nuptials. 24 CELEBRATE A WESTIE Since 2005, the Westlake Chamber of Commerce has recognized Westlake community members for their eorts over the prior year with emphasis placed on community and philanthropic endeavors as well as economic impact. The event will include a VIP reception, a cocktail reception, dinner, a live auction and an after-party for all guests. The dress code will be cocktail attire. Guests can donate to the live or silent auction, and tables are available to purchase for up to $10,000. Pages of the featured children’s book “If You Were My Valentine,” written by Lynn Plourde and illustrated by Jennifer L. Meyer, will be posted along the walkway. Open all day. Attendees will be taught how to make special characters, such as “round bubble letters, drippy gooey letters, silly wiggly letters and more.” Attendees will also be drawing the alphabet in the styles they choose before working on making a Valentine for someone. 4:30 p.m. Free.
