William D. Tate Avenue median work Raised curb medians are being installed to enhance safety on William D. Tate Avenue between Mustang Drive and the frontage road for Hwy. 114. The Texas Department of Transportation project will limit vehi- cles from turning left out of restaurants located on the east side of Mustang Drive. A TxDOT official said crash rates are reduced by 40% after raised medians are constructed, resulting in safer traffic patterns. There will still be turn lanes to reach businesses on both sides of William D. Tate Av- enue as well as room for making U-turns, according to TxDOT officials. During construction the two lanes are reduced to one lane in each direction. The westbound frontage road is reduced to one turn lane as well. Timeline: Summer 2023-fall 2024 Cost: $252,804 Funding source: Texas Department of Transportation

North White Chapel Boulevard, Kirkwood Branch bridge improvements Roadway, bridge, sidewalk and water line improve- ments will be made at North White Chapel Boulevard at Kirkwood Branch. Southlake City Council approved a contract with Rebcon, LLC for construction on June 20. Temporary repairs were made to the bridge after a 2018 storm with the intention of a more robust project happening in the future, according to city documents. Permanent improvements include elevating the cross- ings at Kirkwood Branch and adding sidewalks along North White Chapel Boulevard. Improvements will also be made to the retaining wall, drainage and water line, city documents stated. Timeline: Summer 2023-end of 2024 Cost: $6.9 million Funding source: City of Southlake’s Capital Improvement Program

Colleyville street beautification A couple street medians in Colleyville are getting a makeover with the help of the Texas Department of Transportation. Colleyville City Council approved an agreement with TxDOT on June 6. TxDOT’s Green Rib- bon Program helps fund the planting and establishing of native trees and plants on the state highway system. The projects include the following: A SH 26 at Longwood Drive B Precinct Line Road at LD Lockett Drive The city will be responsible for all design costs and environmental studies as well as any excess costs. Timeline: TBD Cost: A $178,389 B $206,322 for (the city’s partici- pation is estimated at $30,200)
