1 Kids and adults alike enjoyed viewing police vehicles at the Lake Travis Fire Rescue Public Safety Day event. 2 Lake Travis Fire Rescue displayed a number of am- bulances and emergency vehicles for public viewing. 3 West Lake Hills police officers gathered for a photo on Public Safety Day. 4 Families viewed an armored vehicle at the Lake Travis Public Safety Day event. 5 A helicopter was on display at the West Lake Hills Public Safety Day celebration. 6 The West Lake Hills Chamber of Commerce operated a booth during the city’s Public Safety Day celebration. 7 Lake Travis Fire Rescue brought several fire investi- gation dogs out to the celebration. Oct. 26 at Lake Travis Elementary School, which was organized in partnership with Bee Cave, Lakeway, and Lake Travis ISD police depart- ments, along with Lakeway Citizens Police Academy Alumni Association. West Lake Hills gathered at Valley View Ele- mentary for its Oct. 27 event, which also featured a We Are Blood donation drive. Kids and adults alike were invited to dress in costume and meet first responders while enjoying fun activities such as trunk-or-treating and costume contests. Over 20 agencies came together to display helicopters, police cars, fire trucks, and other specialized vehicles for attend- ees to view and step inside. Live fire demos and CPR trainings were also featured, and attendees were invited to check out local nonprofits and businesses’ booths at the event, all while enjoy- ing food, drinks, and live music. First responders celebrate Public Safety Day This year, families from around the Lake Travis and West Austin area gathered to participate in public safety celebrations with police officers and other first responders from West Lake Hills Police Department and Lake Travis Fire Rescue.
