Construction updates A number of retail, residential and community projects are underway in The Woodlands and South Montgomery County. 1 Covenant United Methodist Church is slated to be completed by mid-2019, according to church officials. CUMC officials broke ground last May on the 16,000-square-foot building, which will feature a dedicated space for children and a worship room designed to expand to meet future growth. 2 Clearing work has begun on Creekside Park West , a new 12-acre retail center that will be anchored by a Moviehouse & Eatery, a dine-in movie theater. The theater is slated to open in late 2019. The center, located at the southwest corner of Kuykendahl Road and Creekside Forest Drive, will also feature retailers and restaurants that have not yet been announced, according to officials with The Howard Hughes Corp. 3 MD Anderson Cancer Center will open a new outpatient and treatment facility this fall near College Park and Fellowship drives, according to hospital officials. The three-story, 200,000-square-foot building will house the clinic currently located at CHI St. Luke’s The Woodlands Hospital. 4 The Woodlands United Methodist Church ’s new gymnasium will wrap up construction in the first quarter of 2020, according to church officials. Part of a $30 million capital campaign, the church is also working on constructing a new church in the Woodforest area. 5 Structural work is underway on Two Lakes Edge , a 386-unit, multifamily complex located in Hughes Landing near Lake Woodlands Drive. Officials with The Howard Hughes Corp. said the complex is scheduled to be complete in spring 2020. 6 Officials with developer Sam Moon Group announced in late December an AMC theater will open in February in MetroPark Square, a 69-acre, mixed-use center located east of I-45. An exact opening date for the theater has not been announced as of press time; however, the MetroPark Square center is slated to officially open in March. 2978
