Bikeland promotes tness with high-end bicycles

Je Chan, a lifelong biker and an entrepreneur, said he bought his rst BMX custom bike at the age of 13 with his own savings. The local cyclist opened Bikeland in The Woodlands area 21 years later to ll the gap he said he found in quality bicycle retailers. Since 2004, the bike shop has grown into a hub for riders seeking upscale vehicles such as road, hybrid, BMX and mountain bikes. Staying local Chan said he bikes about 5,000 miles a year using trails in The Woodlands. “Health and tness, to me ... is my mental sanity.” Chan said. “When I ride, it keeps me grounded and helps me reduce my stress, and I do my best thinking.” On the business side, Chan said he has the opportunity to share his passion for cycling and build relationships through Bikeland. “I’ve always felt like it was my God-given gift to give back to the community and help build a cycling community to help people stay t and be healthy and have active lifestyles and positive relationships,” Chan said. Aside from its retail services, Chan said Bikeland holds weekly 30-mile rides in which local bikers gather and bond over their shared passion for biking.

What’s special about it? The shop oers high-end bikes, bike accessories and apparel as well as repair and bike-tting services. The store oers brands such as Electra, Special- ized, Fitbikeco and Black Ops, Chan said. Focusing on providing exceptional customer service through a knowledgeable sta and personal attention, Chan said he tries to make Bikeland stand out from corporate retailers while oering a unique selection of high-end bicycles. Bikeland also oers bike tting services for riders to have a properly tted bike adjusted to t each individual’s body and riding style. Fitting services take 20-30 minutes and 45 minutes to an hour for triathlon or time trial sizing. What else? After over 20 years of serving The Woodlands area community, Chan said Bikeland has expanded its social media presence and shares information about local mountain bike trails on its website. In addition, Chan has plans to expand with a new location in the near future and continue sharing his passion for biking. The bike shop also oers online services with all of its products including bikes and apparel available on the business website. Chan said the store will begin oering several new brands of bicycles in the new year.
