The Woodlands seeks golf course partnership The Woodlands Township could see a public golf course on Gosling Road, following unanimous approval by the board of directors Dec. 4 to issue a request for proposals. The board of directors is looking to form a public-private partnership between the township and an outside entity to create and operate a golf complex at the South Gosling Tract, a 208-parcel tract donated by Howard Hughes in 2023 off Gosling Road on Spring Creek. What you need to know Chris Nunes, chief operating officer for The Woodlands Township, said at the Dec. 4 meeting the course would be suitable for all skill levels and would provide a unique experience in the area for both residents and visitors, ultimately contribut- ing to revenue for the township. “Much like the board of directors has done with Texas TreeVentures, Riva Row Boat House, we see this as a complementary aspect that ... can drive [sales and] hotel tax as well,” Nunes said. Next steps Following strategic township planning meetings Tomball ISD student growth rate hits 1.8% The growth rate of Tomball ISD—about 1.8%—is the lowest in 12 years, the district reported. “Growth is still happening ... but growth is not even when we look at the parts of our school district, the different campuses and the different grade levels,” said Mark White, the district’s assistant superintendent of accountability, on Nov. 10. On Oct. 31—the snapshot date for the Public Education Information Management System, or PEIMS—TISD’s enrollment reached 23,256 students, according to a presentation from White. More details White said a housing slump is contribut- ing to the low student growth rate in TISD.
Morgan to manage rental communities Howard Hughes Communities selected multifamily firm Morgan to manage more than 3,250 residences across 11 rental com- munities in The Woodlands and Bridgeland, according to a Nov. 12 news release. What we know Morgan will oversee leasing, resident services and on-site operations, with a goal of implementing a “boutique-style man- agement approach” that it says aligns with Howard Hughes’ standards for service and quality, per the release.

in May, an ad hoc task force identified golf as an unmet need in the community, Nunes said. While The Woodlands has many private golf courses, there are no public facilities, Nunes said. After developing a golf course, the property would still potentially have 150 acres of space in the floodway above the 100-year floodplain, Nunes said. The project will be advertised Dec. 17, and the proposal is due Jan. 23. The board will review and select the partners for the project Feb. 19 or 26, according to the meeting agenda.
