The Woodlands to see 1 contested election A total of four candidates have filed to run for Position 6 on The Woodlands Township board of directors. Shelley Sekula-Gibbs and Cindy Heiser filed to run for their current seats on positions 5 and 7, respectively, and are unopposed. About the candidates Adam Lamb, Allan Bounds, Philip Ikhare- bhore and Maria Holmes filed applications before the deadline for Position 6, previ- ously held by Ann Snyder.

$14M Bear Branch Dam project will need additional funding The Woodlands Township board of directors learned at its Aug. 21 meeting that the $14 million, two-phase Bear Branch Dam rehabilitation project will need additional funding for new work. What to know Ed Shackelford, director of operations for the San Jacinto River Authority, told township officials he learned of an issue with water getting through the joints and spillway of the concrete dam. A total of $3.8 million in additional funding will be needed to complete the two-phase project, which will likely be completed in 2029 due to additional costs and work, he said. allocate $3.6 million in community project funding from the federal budget in February 2024 to begin a rehabilitation project for the Bear Branch Dam and spillway, as previously reported by Commu- nity Impact. According to prior reporting, the project will also receive $1.4 million from local municipal utility districts. The remainder of the project was to be funded through the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers.
